Sheldon High School Students Compete and Qualify for Varsity State LifeSmarts Competition

            Students in Mrs. Christy Lockard’s business classes competed in the on-line LifeSmarts competition in  the following areas: Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, the Environment, Health and Safety, Personal Finance, and Technology. After the on-line round, Mrs. Lockard was informed that the team had placed in the top 12 scores and was eligible to compete in the State LifeSmarts Competition.

            There were many students that competed and the members who had the 5 highest scores are the students selected to represent the Sheldon LifeSmarts Team in Jefferson City, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

            The Sheldon Students with the highest scores are: Beth Spencer-Senior, Zoey Bray-Junior, Drake Curry-Sophomore, Tori Spencer-Sophomore, and Kaleb Martin-Sophomore. They will travel with their adviser Mrs. Christy Lockard to represent Sheldon at the State LifeSmarts Competition which includes different types of testing in the rounds such as: Written Subject Exam, Speed Dating the Experts, Team Questions, Team-Plus Questions, and Challenge Questions.

The Sheldon LifeSmarts team members will be competing against other students from Buffalo High School, Hermitage High School, Ft. Zumwalt South High School, Bourbon High School, Harrisonville High School, Blair Oaks High School, Ruskin High School, Linn High School, Fatima High School, Columbia Area Career Center, and Keytesville High School.

            The Sheldon LifeSmarts team members have been studying the areas listed above that they could be tested over at the state competition. The members are looking forward to the competition.
