Fifth and Sixth Grade Art

Story image 1_0

Man, Oh, Man!  This age can be rough when it comes to the arts of any kind.  Not only are they self-critical, but they are easily embarrassed and the arts often lose their luster because of the emotional and social risks involved with presenting and performing.  I wanted to find something that would allow them to connect and still be successful.  Pencil transformation seemed to be the perfect start.  A blank, white, piece of paper was incredibly daunting and frustrating at first, but with a bit of discussion, students were able to come up with ideas and put their pencil to the paper.  (Pun intended!)
