Reading Carnival 2014

On May 2, 2014, the nerds arrived in the Sheldon gymnasium by the droves.  And they were not only welcomed but fed a wonderful meal and encouraged to play games.  How did this happen, you say?  The 13th Annual Reading Carnival came to town!!

Everyone was welcomed by the wonderful smell of fried chicken as they stepped into the cafeteria thanks to the awesome cooks: Lena, Brenda, Carla and Julie.  The meal consisted of chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, a roll and cookies baked by the AfterSchool students the night before.  Yum, yum.

As the nerds progressed into the gymnasium where all the games were set up, they were greeted by Amie “Farrah-Fowler” Breckenridge.  Each student was given an amount of tickets based on their works throughout the year.  It DOES pay to be good!!

Some of the games that were possible for the nerds to play were:  Swirly Toilet, Putt Putt Golf, nerd puzzles, Skeeball,  Light Saber fights, huge checkers and scrabble games and many, many other games.  At each game the nerds were allowed to get either a book, a little prize or a piece of gum or candy.

To wrap the whole evening off, the nerds were allowed to drag their friends to the picture booth to get their photo taken for posterity.  Much frivolity was had by all!!

Then the wars began—or rather the whipped cream eating began!!  Groups of nerds proceeded to the stage and were rewarded with bags of candy.  There were over 165 nerds partaking of the festivities for the evening.
