End of the Year Updates

April 24, 2020

The ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our region requires school districts to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of public health.  In consultation with the Vernon County Health Department, Sheldon has made decisions on end of year activities.

High School Graduation: June 20 at 6:00 pm in the gym

Pre-K/K Promotion: It will be held in conjunction with Meet the Teacher Night in August

Also in conjunction with Meet the Teacher Night in August, we will recognize students from various organizations. More information to follow later.

Prom: Still working on a date

Summer School: There is still an opportunity for summer school to be held. I will send out more information when I get it. It might be in June or July.

These decisions are very difficult to make, but Sheldon is committed to ensuring the safety and wellness of our students and community. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 and will make any changes as needed.

Sheldon R-VIII School District is committed to supporting our students and their families as we work through this challenging time together. A major change in routine can be stressful and oftentimes leads to fear and anxiety for many students. Practicing appropriate self-care is vitally important to a student’s emotional and mental health. To reduce stress and anxiety, it is important to create a schedule for learning time and relaxing or fun family activities.

Please monitor our website, Facebook or website for updates, information, and resources.

Wishing you the best,

Jason Irwin
